Transitional Fatigue Management Scheme (TFMS)
Course Outline
This program aims to provide Management, Staff and Drivers involved with operating heavy vehicle fleets with the necessary knowledge required to obtain registration in the Transitional Fatigue Management Scheme with the relevant State Authority responsible for regulating heavy vehicle driving hours.
Duration
6-hour group session, with an on the job action plan to be developed in class and implemented over a two week period.

1 :8 (minimum)
Entry Requirements/Designed For
Participants must be licensed heavy vehicle drivers, whose employer is or intends to register in the Transitional Fatigue Management Scheme (TFMS). To register in the TFMS individual drivers must:
- Successfully complete this course
- Undertake the Commercial Driver's medical examination and receive a satisfactory report
- Pay a registration fee to the appropriate authority
- Be employed by a company registered in the TFMS, or register as an owner driver.
Course Objectives
Management, operational staff and drivers are provided with the necessary skills and knowledge to manage personal fatigue when in control of a heavy vehicle. The course includes:
- Causes and effects of fatigue
- Identify workplace practices which are most effective in combating fatigue
- Recognition of personal warning signs of fatigue
- Factors which increase the risk of fatigue related crashes
- Making decisions about lifestyle choices
- Plan strategies to combat fatigue.
Certification
The Aust-Link Training instructor will certify that participants have attended the course by endorsing the TFMS registration booklet.
