Motor Cycle Learner Permit Course
Course Outline
This course is designed for those who wish to obtain their Motorcycle Learners Permit. Participants will be required to reach a competency standard and fulfil the relevant VicRoads testing criteria. This course is intended for individuals who wish to obtain a motorcycle learner permit in Victoria. We recommend that participants have some motorcycle riding experience before commencing this course. Aust-Link runs a Motorcycle Pre Learners Course for this purpose.

Entry Requirements
Participants must:
- Be 18 years old.
- Provide either a photo licence or primary and secondary proof of identity prior to course commencement.
- Wear appropriate protective clothing with full skin cover for riding motorcycles.
- Obtain and study the Victorian Rider Handbook from Aust-Link or VicRoads before the course commences.
Note: Intending riders who do not hold a current Victorian Car Learner Permit or Drivers licence will be required to complete a road law knowledge test.
Course Objectives
Participants receive skills training and then testing as required by VicRoads office to receive their motorcycle learners' permit.
The course includes:
- Protective clothing
- Motorcycle safety inspection
- Motorcycle controls
- Manoeuvring
- Slow speed riding
- Gear changing
- Braking
- Skills test
- Eyesight assessment
- Theory test based on the Victorian Riders Handbook.
