Training Motorcycles, Aust-Link, Bendigo and MilduraMotor Cycle Learner Permit Course 

Course Outline 

This course is designed for those who wish to obtain their Motorcycle Learners Permit. Participants will be required to reach a competency standard and fulfil the relevant VicRoads testing criteria. This course is intended for individuals who wish to obtain a motorcycle learner permit in Victoria. We recommend that participants have some motorcycle riding experience before commencing this course. Aust-Link runs a Motorcycle Pre Learners Course for this purpose.

Entry Requirements

Participants must:

  1. Be 18 years old.
  2. Provide either a photo licence or primary and secondary proof of identity prior to course commencement.
  3. Wear appropriate protective clothing with full skin cover for riding motorcycles.
  4. Obtain and study the Victorian Rider Handbook from Aust-Link or VicRoads before the course commences.

Note: Intending riders who do not hold a current Victorian Car Learner Permit or Drivers licence will be required to complete a road law knowledge test. 

Course Objectives

Participants receive skills training and then testing as required by VicRoads office to receive their motorcycle learners' permit.

  • Motorcycle controls
  • Manoeuvring
  • Slow speed riding
  • Gear changing
  • Braking
  • Skills test
  • Eyesight assessment
  • Theory test based on the Victorian Riders Handbook.
