Course Outline

This course is designed to train drivers to a competent standard in both theory and practical, which will enable them to pass the relevant VicRoads testing criteria for theory, skills and practical driving in the category of Light or Medium Rigid Truck.

 Aust-Link Pty Ltd is accredited to deliver training and Assessment for Victoria (VicRoads).

Aust-Link Pty Ltd is accredited to train on behalf of the NSW Road Traffic Authority but assessments must be conducted in the relevant state.

A Light Rigid vehicle is described as any rigid vehicle, including truck and bus, greater than 4.5 tonnes GVM or seating more than 12 adults including the driver.

A Medium Rigid vehicle is described as any rigid vehicle, including truck and bus, greater than 8 tonnes GVM.

Duration

Lessons run for a one hour duration and can be booked Monday to Friday, 8.00 am to 4.00 pm at mutually convenient times.

An assessment runs for one and half hours and can be booked Monday to Friday, 8.00 am to 3.30 pm at mutually convenient times.

The trainer can give the participant an estimation of training required after the first lesson.

A VicRoad Bus and Truck Driver knowledge test can be sat at any time.

Trainer/Participation Ratio 

1:1 (maximum).

Entry Requirements

Participants must:

  1. Hold a current Victorian Motor Car Licence.
  2. Have held their car licence for a minimum of 12 months.
  3. Provide primary and secondary proof of identification prior to course commencement.
  4. Eyesight test conducted by Aust-Link.
  5. Must  notify  staff  of  any  medical conditions/medication taken.
  6. Purchase and be familiar with the VicRoads Bus and Truck Driver handbook.
  7. Be able to drive a car fitted with a manual transmission.
  8. Participant must provide a Light or Medium Rigid Vehicle conforming to vehicle checklist requirements. This checklist can be obtained from the Aust-Link office.
